Notes that
do the maths.

Varlig is a Markdown notebook with a calculator built into the page. Type €160 × 3 under your hotel plans and the total appears right beside it.

HOW IT WORKS

Put down the calculator app.

Most notes have a little arithmetic in them. Varlig does it where you wrote it, and keeps the working in view.

  1. Write it down.

Start a note the way you always would. Headings, lists and checkboxes are plain Markdown, with keyboard shortcuts if you’d rather not type the symbols.

  2. Do the sums in place.

Open a calc block and write “20% of 150” or “65 kg in pounds”. The answer lines up on the right, and anything you name carries through the rest of the note.

  3. Keep it together.

Link notes with [[double brackets]], add a #tag, and search everything at once. Change a number next month and the totals still add up.

EXAMPLES

Anything with a number in it.

Invoices, recipes, shared bills, training plans. Write them in everyday Markdown, and Varlig keeps every total right as the plan changes.
