varligcli 0.0.1

varligcli is the small program that lets MCP clients such as Claude Desktop,
Terminal and launchers reach your notes in Varlig on this Mac. Varlig from the
Mac App Store can't include it, so it is a free download of its own. Varlig
downloaded from varlig.com already has it inside the app.

It needs macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. It is signed by
Varlig's developer and notarized by Apple.

Install

In Terminal, in the folder with this file (for example cd ~/Downloads/varligcli-0.0.1):

    sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/bin
    sudo cp varligcli /usr/local/bin/varligcli

macOS asks for your password. varligcli --help then shows what it does.

Connect an MCP client

1. In Varlig, open Settings › Advanced › Desktop connector and turn on
Allow local MCP connections. Allow changes to notes is a separate choice.
2. Click Copy MCP Configuration. With varligcli in /usr/local/bin, the
   configuration names it.
3. Paste it into your client's MCP settings (in Claude Desktop: Settings ›
Developer › Edit Config), then quit and reopen the client.

Your client may ask once to access data from other apps: Varlig from the Mac
App Store keeps its connector in its app group folder. Varlig must be open,
with the desktop connector on, while the client works with your notes.

Terminal and launchers

    varligcli request search '{"query":"#work","limit":20}'
    varligcli help all

Remove it
